Problem

Vehicle numbers were recorded manually while operators visually judged whether a vehicle was moving too fast.

  • Continuous manual monitoring was required across every shift.
  • High traffic volumes made consistent monitoring difficult.
  • Speed violations could be missed or identified incorrectly.
  • A violation could not be reliably linked to the correct number plate.
  • There was no evidence trail, and human error affected violation records.
  • Dust, rain and varying number-plate positions added to the implementation challenge.

WebOccult deployed edge-based computer vision to detect and track vehicles, calculate their speed, identify configured speed-limit violations and capture the corresponding number plate with ANPR / OCR.
